Album DescriptionTabaran is a Kuanuan word spoken by the Tolais people who live in and around Rabaul. A Tabaran is a powerful spirit whose influence affects all the Tolais people. The spirit has its own special dance and rhythm which is performed at local ceremonies and sing sings. Tabaran is Not Drowning Waving's masterpiece. Upon its original release in 1988 it was critically acclaimed and commercially successful, selling almost gold. It was a project of a type never really attempted in Australia before, and the results were astonishing. This 2005 deluxe reissue has been completely remastered, and comes with a bonus DVD (PAL/Region 0) containing short films, one for every track. NDW have always used multimedia as a part of their live shows, so it is only natural that each track on this groundbreaking album has a short film to accompany it.
