SIX stars for the content, but sound quality brings it down

"The NMA have gone back to their roots in this performance with the original 3 guys cranking out the rockin hill country blues that they are renown for. However, the quality of the recording ranks in my opinion only as a good quality bootleg. I even wonder if this was meant to be a professional-level recording. Don't worry, it's not distorted or anything--the sound is still pretty good, and everything is pretty clear, but it doesn't sound like any close-miking of the instruments was used. In this day and age, making a high quality live recording shouldn't be that big of an effort.
Nevertheless, the performance is stellar! Luther's guitar playing is on fire, even if his voice is not up to par on a tune or two. Cody and Luther actually engage in a guitar ensemble of sorts (Cody can play!) And the appearance of Alvin Youngblood Hart serves as an extra bonus. So overall, I do recommend this CD, especially if you don't care too much about top-notch sound quality."
