A fine, fine album from a Mic City Son.

"These Portlanders serve up some really fine tunes on this--their debut effort, 'No Memory.' This is music to live by and enjoy every day, not just some 'ok' record. It is just POP, but it is POP OF UNUSUALLY DYNAMIC AND FANTASTIC PROPORTIONS. Neil Gust is running the show here folks, and if you don't already know this fellow, pick up any HEATMISER recording. Mr. Gust's work never dissapoints, and never ceases to impress. He truly doesn't get the recognition he deserves... 'No Memory' is an album that takes you to another place. We identify with the situations and surroundings: the dismal back alleys, the lonley walks home, the delusions of grandeur in front of the mirror in your room...not to mention the (un)healthy helping of regrets, intoxications, and longings. These are things we all experience at one time or another. But, ALAS!, Gust is not all doom and gloom. He presents these modern day tales of the blues in the form of spunky pop, driving all-out rockers, and even a waltz is thrown in for good measure. The vigorous, and often crafty, playing adds to the magic--conveying the album's moodiness, yet revealing the uneasy...no even better, anxious excitement that life tends to bring to us all. Mr. Gust is, in fact, wrong though when he proclaims that 'nobody's satisfied,' because I love the music on this disc. I just love it plain and simple. And to think--the running time of the album is just over a half-hour! Now, who could ask for anything more?"

"I bought this CD when it was only available through chainsaw, waited two weeks for it, and was knocked out by the brilliance.
if you're into elliott smith (esp. xo, fig 8) or heatmiser, this cd deserves a spot on your shelf. unfortunately, nobody trades no. 2 on any of the p2p networks, so you can't preview it before you buy, but take my (and those people up there's) word for it - you will enjoy this CD."

"If you like Elliott Smith's first band Heatmiser then get this disc. More upbeat than Smith's own solo discs but his production touches are there. If you liked Mic City Sons then this is the disc for you. Let's hope the old Heatmiser bandmates continue to make great music. Maybe a reunion?"
