CD ReviewsSIMPLY GREAT!! RafuXo | Brazil, SC Joinville | 11/28/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "... FINALLY ..."NIRVANA PAPERSLEEVE IS AVAILABLE", A CLASSIC BAND AS NIRVANA COULDN'T WAIT MORE FOR RELEASE ON JAPAN AS MINI LP. THE SOUND IS EXCELLENT AS ALL UNIVERSAL RELEASES! THE PACKAGE IS SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL! HIGHLY RECOMMENDABLE FOR ROCK FANS!" Nirvana's Second Best Album Now in MLPS Format! Frederick Baptist | Singapore | 02/24/2008 (3 out of 5 stars) "Ironically, Kurt Cobain of all people wasn't as pleased as his fans at the incredible success of "Nevermind" and he even complained at producer Vig's over-polished treatment of the album although I think he did an excellent job. After all, it's his pain here that people are getting happy about and so Kurt decides to come up with a less polished offering here in "In Utero" but despite his efforts, his genius still shines through making this although not as good as the brilliant "Nevermind" an excellent album on its own merits. Kurt's genius on dynamics and melody continue to shine through and the fans still loved it!
This version of the album in mini-lp sleeve i.e. mlps format isn't the best mlps design that I've seen as the cardboard used is thin and of low quality and poorly assembled. Metallica's mlps version of "Master of Puppets" is a good example of what a good mlps design should look like in case you are wondering. Bizarrely a mini calendar for just the months of July and August of 2008 is included together with a 16 page booklet with all the lyrics in both English and Japanese. Most importantly, the sound quality is okay but not brilliant and so given the large asking price for this baby, I'm struggling to find value in this particular version of the album. Contentwise though, this represents among Nirvana's best ever works and should be in any music lover's cd library." |
