CD ReviewsA truly terrifying experience P. Faust | Westerville, Ohio United States | 03/14/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "Perhaps the creepiest and most unsettling album you'll ever hear. NAHR sends you on a journey of true horror - I wouldn't call it "Horror-Core," though the song "Bloody Eyeball" (what would be the single from this record) sounds like it came straight off of a Misfits Collection. Darren Kaplan's eerie lead vocals on such songs as "Jack the Ripper" and "Aileen Wuornos," perfectly balance Mike Markowski's brilliant mixture of punk/experimental backing music, along with his own occasional interjections of melodic vocal lead. You get the feeling that these aren't the kind of awkward fellows you'd see wearing Charles Manson T-shirts in the early-90's, these are true historians who view their subjects as fascinating cultural icons, as opposed to people who should be celebrated or renowned for their actions. Though the album itself can be disturbing to listen to because of it's themes, it also has a dark sense of humor to it. It reassures you that the band would not frighten you in person as the late GG Allin would, but rather they would sit down and cheerfully answer all your questions about serial killers over dinner. However, I'd watch out for what they might have put in the stew." A Must Hear CD! identityunknown | earth | 08/02/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "Awesome cd, cool mix of lyrics and music...creepy and disturbing
my favorites are: manson, serial killers, dahmer's diner, bloody eyeball, ed gein, the hillside stranglers, gacy herman, night stalker, and a few others. charlie's death march #9 is insane. Definetly a must hear cd. Some of my other favorite bands are: The Ramones, Roky Erickson, The Residents, The Beatles, The Clash, Ministry, XTC, etc. " |
