"This budget CD should be bought together with Volume 1. Afterall you get 2 CD's for the price of one, and some of the most priceless 2000th century piano music available. Carl Nielsen did not compose a lot for piano (deducting his hughe volume of Danish Songs), but what he did like all his orchestral pieces was great. Listen to his last large work for Piano Opus 59: Three Piano Pieces with their mixed styles, which were perhaps too complicated for their time. Today we marvel of the process which produced a true great Carl Nielsen work. Earlier he had completed the Piano Music for Small and Big Opus 53. Many of the pieces are excellent to play and listen to for children. Many are funny, comical, grotesque, while others are better for adults, thoughtful, soulful and strange pieces. Here we get a cross-section of Nielsen's product, a long series of small work of art, covering the whole of Nielsen's wealth of emotions. Buy both CD's, and then try his pieces for Organ if you want to enter the Nielsen dreamworld."
