The other tenor

"I read that Nicole Willis is married to Jimi Tenor. Her debut CD is a marriage between New York deep slow house to the off beat electronica of the mister. Best thing about "Soul Makeover" is that it has a unique style. It does not sound like something you already heard. Partly jazzy, partly sophisticated R&B, it has the spirit of 2001 but you will never hear it playing in the lobby of some hip hotel. Totally under rated. Why?"

"With the Jill Scott and Erykah Badu burning up the soul charts, we now describe female artist sounding like one or the other. Well now here is a artist that stands on her own. Many may not remember Nicole Willis who performed on the Repercussions "Heaven and Earth" cd 1994 (a must hear within itself, if you can find it), but once you hear "Soul Makeover" your will want to hear more. Nicole takes you on journey through soul, jazz, house and down tempo drum and bass without missing a beat. From the first cut "I'M not Going" which is over flowing with soul to the additional remixes of 3 tracks (Curiosity, All the Time and Heed the Sign), this maybe one of the best unheard albums of the year. With artist like Lewis Taylor and Omar giving true RB lovers hope for the future, Nicole keep that flame burning real bright. Do not sleep on this one!"

"I am usually not fond of slow songs but in this album my favorite song is the slowest: siesta. Nervous songs are also great. Her voice is grealty supported by the arrangments. To summarize, an excellent work."
