"Nicole launched her career with a runaway success in the Eurovision song contest of 1982 or thereabouts, with a song whose English title is A little peace. Although it made number one in Britain, it was her only British hit, but that's not surprising. Nicole is obviously fluent in English, but records mostly in German, so her appeal outside Germany is limited.
For this Christmas album, Nicole recorded a typical mix of originals and covers. White Christmas is sung entirely in English. You wouldn't know Nicole is German from hearing this track, so good is her command of English. Stille nacht heilige nacht (Silent night holy night) is sung half in English and half in German. The remaining songs, all sung in German, are an excellent mix of original and traditional songs..
Nicole has a really lovely voice, very easy on the ears, so you will find that this is a lovely, relaxing Christmas album. It doesn't rock, but you can't please everybody. Nicole has recorded a set of songs that will surely please a lot of people in her homeland, and a few of us in the rest of the world.
Nicole remains popular in Germany, where she continues to record great music, twenty years after A little peace, and it's easy to understand why."
