Synopsis
Album DescriptionThe Swedish music scene has brought the world many great pop acts over the years and has recently been a hotbed for edgy indie rock. But Sweden has not been known for introducing amazing singer-songwriters to the world. Until now. Enter Nicolai Dunger, a former professional soccer player who was discovered by a producer while he sang on a balcony in his hometown and gave up his sports career to pursue his passion for music. We're glad he did, for Nicolai is a tremendous talent whose voice recalls the joyful pastoral soul of vintage Van Morrison and the melancholy crooning of both Tim and Jeff Buckley. Though a newcomer to the U.S. music scene, buzz on Nicolai's talent has spread amongst tastemakers and particularly in the artist community, causing artists as varied as Soundtrack of Our Lives, Will Oldham and Calexico all to seek out Dunger for collaborations. But his most stunning collaboration yet can be heard throughout his new album 'Here's My Song, You Can Have It ... I Don't Want It Anymore / Yours 4-Ever, Nicolai Dunger,' which features Nicolai backed by the mighty Mercury Rev. Dunger's aching melodies and soulful vocals mesh with Mercury Rev's dreamy yet driving sound seamlessly and with an ease that reflects the fun the musicians had playing together. 'Here's My Song...' features 11 amazing songs, including the lead single, "Hunger."

It's Jeff Buckley reincarnated! L. Callahan | Seattle, WA USA | 03/30/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I was listening to KEXP in Seattle the other day, and the most beautiful song started playing. I thought that Jeff Buckley had risen from his grave. As the song ended, the DJ said it was Nicolai Dunger from Sweden. I was intrigued. The soaring vocals were so beautiful, along with the simple and gorgeous guitar backing. The song I heard was White Wild Horses (the little snippet of music on Amazon doesn't even include the amazing vocals on this song). I bought the album just to hear this song, and the rest of the album is great too!
I would highly recommend this to anyone who appreciates powerful vocals and beautiful melodies. I hope he tours soon and comes to Seattle!!" Amazing!!! A. Toombs | new york city, ny | 09/26/2005 (5 out of 5 stars) "I bought this album when I visited Sweden in March 2004. I'm a big fan of Swedish groups, and I loved "Soul Rush" and "Tranquil Isolation." For me this was the album of 2004, and I still listen to it often. He has a wonderful voice, and is a surprisingly talented lyricist considering English is his second language (then again the Swedes often speak better English than Americans or British). It's beautiful music, beautiful words, everything about this album is beautiful!"
