Member CD ReviewsMichelle M. (mishkaness) Reviewed on 3/3/2012... Once again, the description paragraph provided here is totally wrong. The description paragraph refers to an album released in the 1960's by a completely different band--"The Nice." The cd listed here (with the tracks "Dear John," etc.) is by a totally different band called "Nice" who released a self-titled album in the 1990's (nearly 30 years later!) on the "Feel Good All Over" record label. It had no UPC code, because the label was a small independent from Chicago. Absolutely, totally different band, different music, different album. The description paragraph and the photograph are 100% incorrect; they do not belong with the tracklisting and record information. Anyway, the actual album here by the 90's band Nice has a British jangly guitar pop sound reminiscent of the Smiths or Billy Bragg, with clever lyrics. Nothing psychedelic or prog about it, though. 1 of 1 member(s) found this review helpful.
CD ReviewsPoor remaster oval | 04/04/2000 (1 out of 5 stars) "Not remastered from the original tapes! (I have this from the guys that remastered it) It was reissued using several generation old copies. The sound is nothing special. There is an awful edit on the live side between tracks. Buy the repertoire edition. Oh and the bonus tracks? Mono versions of the album tracks..not different just mono.BIG DEAL" Nice - self-titled (Repertoire) Mike Reed | USA | 03/10/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "First off, this particular posting has a totally incorrect track listing. Nonetheless, I've had this CD reissue for awhile now and I'm just getting around to scribbling out a review of it - as this self-titled effort was The Nice's third album and was originally released in 1969. Covers a lot of ground as well. Liked their reworking of the psychedelic "Azrael Revisited", the nine-minute work-out of "For Example" where Keith Emerson gets to show what he's made of and especially the disc's last two (of a total of six) tracks - recorded live at the Fillmore East - "Rondo" and Bob Dylan's "She Belongs To Me". Well done. Recommended."
