Brilliant..& The End of an Era

"This is the last album with Peter at the helm (at least vocally) and I must say it is one of their best. I've been a Newsboys fan since Not Ashamed way back in '92, and I just never wanted to bring myself to the fact that one day it would have to end. No, the Newsboys aren't over, but now that Michael Tait is taking over as lead singer, it feels like its over. To me Peter IS the Newsboys. Anyway as for this record its all Peter and its wonderful. The continued collaboration with Steve Taylor shines through again with great lyrics and the production value has never been better. In all a great album that does not disappoint."

"With their un-mistakable style and flair, the Newsboys once again deliver a worship tune that hits the mark squarely in the middle.
The title track, In The Hands Of God, from the first verse, puts into perspective the fact that what we cannot do this on our own. 2 Peter 3-11 (MSG) says it best: 'Since everything here today might well be gone tomorrow, do you see how essential it is to live a holy life? Daily expect the Day of God, eager for its arrival. The galaxies will burn up and the elements melt down that day--but we'll hardly notice. We'll be looking the other way, ready for the promised new heavens and the promised new earth, all landscaped with righteousness.'
There is no better place to put our hope, trust and faith than in the Hands of God. 'Hands that are mighty to deliver, giving us freedom'! 'O you certainly are amazing God and I thank you!!!"
Good way for Pete to end.

"Yes, In the Hands of God cd is a good way for long time member lead vocals Pete Furler to end his duties with Newsboys. Michael Tait takes over on tour and as vocalist, while Pete will still remain and write and help out, but not tour.
The cd is excellent, Newsboys always has a good beat, my favorite trac is The Way We Roll.
Wish Pete, and the Newboys the best of luck, and continued success."

"Newsboys follow up their superb CD "Go" with "In the hands of God". Michael Tait of dcTalk appears waiting in the wings; he provides backing vocals and takes over as lead vocalist from Peter Furler from their next CD (Peter sings lead on this CD for the final time before leaving). I guess that puts paid to any hopes of his band Tait returning anytime soon.
The sound is what we have come to know and love from Newsboys; stomping Indie Dance/Rock ("The way we roll", the pulsing "Glorious) to mention a few. The bouncy "Upside" has a Beatles feel, while the choppy "My friend Jesus" has a Punk feel a la Greenday. The stomping aptly titled "Dance" is Dance/Rock that would make the Killers smile.
The rest comprise ballads; "No grave" (a lovely guitar driven ballad), "This is your life", title track "In the hands of God" (with deep inspiring lyrics), the stunning piano/string swathed "Lead me to the cross" (with an anthemic chorus, another "Lord, I don't know" or "It is You"), and "RSL 1984".
A new Newsboys with their same sound. great!"
A little bit of everything

"The sound is a bit more traditional here than the slick & creative Go, and it's good!
Peter's amazing 25-year career as a Newsboys singer gets capped off here. It has a little bit of everything we're used to: pop/rock vs. worship; good humor vs. seriousness; early days vs. the future. In my opinion, Peter really *is* the Newsboys, with his distinctive voice, personality, and creative vision. He's the ideal frontman.
-The Way We Roll. One of my Top 3 here. Newsboys as a new band hitting the road; it's great pop-rock fun!
-No Grave. The most experimental track here, it's tremendously solid yet different from typical Newsboys.
-This is Your Life. A common sense track emphasizing what life's all about.
-Glorious. A great worship track that could easily fit on He Reigns: The Worship Collection.
-In the Hands of God. One of my Top 3 here. It's great! The first single released from this CD.
-The Upside. Positive & uplifting- I feel better about everything everytime I listen to this.
-My Friend Jesus. Good humor; it sounds a little like an Audio Adrenaline song to me in certain respects.
-Lead Me To The Cross. Another great worship track. Very heartfelt. The maturity of this band is certainly evident here.
-Dance. One of my Top 3 here. It's probably the single track I've listened to most. I love it!
-RSL 1984. I like it! A great reflection on a 25-year period- 1984 to 2009.
Since Peter will still be making a few appearances throughout '09, his career might best be described as being from 1985-2010. From Read All About It to In the Hands of God, Peter Furler's stateside career has been amazing. I can barely describe how inspirational this group has been to me. Peter, Jody, Oinch, Squiz... and of course, Phil Joel, Paul Coleman, Steve Taylor, John James, and now Michael Tait... the Newsboys represent the very best in contemporary Christian Music!"
