"Pedestal and Woe Betide possibly present the New Christs at their peak (its a tough call though considering how good some of their work is). The EP and singles format suited Rob Younger than the full length album for a number of reasons, primarily because of the fractious nature of all the New Christs line up made it hard for them to stay together long enough to complete a focussed album, their singles collections the out of print "Divine Rites" and Born Out of Time are their best other works after all.



Here the band are in rip snorting, hard rocking form. Rob Younger pours out vitriol and scorn over the state of the world and the state of his relationships with people. All the while bulldozer guitars threaten and rumbling drums assault. 'Pedestal', 'In State' and 'These Rags' are all stone cold classic songs. The rest of the tracks are nothing to turn your nose up either, especially a great cover of Love's 'She Comes In Colors'. This a great place to start listening to the New Christs. Sadly as things stand its hard to come across any New Christs cds, especially not cheaply. Still if you can get this cd do."
