An interesting mix

"Originally formed in 1979, the Boston-based power pop trio the Neighborhoods toughened up their sound a bit for their 1991 self-titled release. The power pop elements are still there, but there are also traces of AOR and even hair metal. The Neighborhoods are a hard band to pin down. Call it Matthew Sweet meets Night Ranger meets L.A. Guns! The end result is a genre crossing pop-oriented rock album that is quite fun to listen to.
It probably won't please everyone. Pop fans may find it too heavy, and rock fans may find it too poppy. Open minded fans of that era's music should find it to be a pleasant surprise.
