Decent collection of catchy, relatable, and inspirational so

"The Good
"Don't wait for Daylight" is rife with driving fuzzy riffs and a melodic chorus. During the vocal low parts, Bear Rinehart sounds a little like Chris Cornell (Audioslave). "Quit" relies on percussion and powerful melodies for the most part. The guitar kicks in for the hook. Catchy chord changes and a memorable chorus lead the mid-tempo track "Shine On." "Haley" is an acoustic ode to the love of Rinehart's life. The track builds with each verse, and the vocals are both enduring and encapsulating. The riffs are a little heavier on "Know it All," but they really play second fiddle to the commanding lyrics. The piano has long been an instrument that triggers emotions of sorrow, so it only makes sense to include it on "Over Now;" a song of heartbreak and sadness.
The Bad
You can tell they're just starting out.
The Verdict
Daylight is a decent collection of catchy, relatable, and inspirational songs. Even though the songs are enjoyable, you can hear that the group has room for improvement. If this is what they can do the first time out, it will be interesting to hear them two albums from now.

I can't stop listening!

"Okay, so let me be frank when I say that I am not a Christian music listener. I'm sure we have a station here in DC, but I am not exactly looking for it. So, when I found this random band on iTunes I took a chance and bought the CD. I was totally blown away! They are so good. Really. You need to buy this CD.
I am a music lover, mostly of good indie bands. I loved Maroon5 before they were the big hit that they are, and I find this band to be just as good. The lead singer's voice is amazing, and incredibly emotional. I believe that he means what he's singing. The lyrics are really good too. I hate bad lyrics, don't you? In terms of favorites, Haley is probably my favorite on the album, but I really love You Are Here and Lost too. (honestly, I love them all, but no one ever believes that)
I'm going to see them in concert tonight. In Baltimore. Yes, I am driving almost 50 miles to see them. I've also conned all my friends into going! And, right now I'm still listening to the CD even though I'm going to hear it all again tonight! So, you know, buy the CD. :)"
Incredible, refreshing

"The first time I heard Needtobreathe was on Relevant magazine's podcast and thought their sound was amazing for a live performance. I couldn't get over how clear and moving the lead singer's voice was. and you could tell the passion they had for their lyrics, they provided the listener with a feeling of hope and rebirth. I couldn't stop listening to their songs "You are here" and "Shine On". I never buy an album unless I've listened to all of the songs, but after hearing a third song "Don't Wait for Daylight", the anticipation could not be held back. Just received my cd, and it is amazing. Every song is unique and has a powerful message to send. They've become one of my favorite artists really fast because of their refreshing sound and the beautiful voices. get this album, you will not regret it. Listen to some of their songs on purevolume or head to their site to hear "Haley" which has become another favorite of mine. "Lost" is also wonderful. If you love Switchfoot (which is just about everyone) and wanna hear something like it but also still manages to retain its own unique style, get this"
Fantastic debut with broad, multi-faceted appeal

"This album is my current favorite, and it's difficult to believe such a mature sound comes from a debut album! My kids rock out to "Quit," a 30-something friend favors "Don't Leave Just Yet," while my near-60 mother-in-law loves "Knew It All"...so there's something for everyone here. Also, the listener can decide whether to enjoy the rock sound or look for deeper meaning in the lyrics--or both! Those who are spiritually inclined will find plenty to savor, but those who just want great sound won't feel beaten over the head with a faith message. Bottom line: It's a solid album you'll find yourself humming--scratch that--singing aloud with after only a few listens. Definitely a keeper."
