"Good good good good good album. Wow. If you're feeling bummed by how dumbed down and bland the mainstream has become, give Need New Body a try. This album is a mash up of brilliant musical ideas from a ton of genres, infused with goofy happy energy. It's in the spirit of Beck's Stereopathetic Soul Manure, but with tighter production. Available on turquoise vinyl when you buy direct from the label. If you like music for it's own sake, if you don't restrict yourself to certain "types" of music, you just might love this band."
This is more than "just fun."

"I too recently saw Need New Body open for Hella, but I wasn't there to see Hella. I was there to see Need New Body, to whom I've been listening for years. They're far more than just "noise," and there's a lot more going on here than just an ironic melange of sound.
Need New Body combine creative instrumentation, intense rhythmic layering and diversity, and anything-but-traditional song structures to create a sort of 2004 adaptation of Captain Beefheart's 1960's vision. Is it drug music? Is it party music? Is it freak-out? Is it jug band? Does it make you want to stand up and stomp your feet and shriek? Yeah, it'll do all of that. It's a dense record, and it demands close attention. That's not to say that one can't giggle at its ironies, but it would be a mistake to find that the only redeeming quality.
I respect a band that would embark on such an ambitious mission to combine Krautrock with electronic, bicycle/junk-shop noise, banjo-led folk, vaudeville, Gamelan, traditional Vietnamese, and cheerleader chants in a way that defies much description. (It depends a lot on what you, the listener, bring to the table.) The resulting album is at once placeless and distinct, everywhere and singular. It's reassuring that someone has found a way to explore all routes and find similarities between them without reducing everything to the lowest common denominator.
There will always be artists who go through the motions of "freaking out" in the hopes of soliciting a few extra cheers at shows, or injecting some energy into an otherwise painfully dull record. But Need New Body's enthusiasm, coupled with their adeptness at creating music both substantive and brilliantly eccentric, proves legitimate. Make no mistake, friends, this is the real thing."

"My biggest complaint with modern music is that it never feels like people are trying very hard. That is why Need New Body is one of the only modern bands I like...their music is so spastically intense, they sound like they are about to spontaneously combust! The music makes my body convulse and fries my brain every time I listen to it.
They run through a gamut of styles, always keeping their insanity intact. (Or the worst case of ADD I've ever seen.) This band sounds like when they enter the studio they are completely hopped up on caffeine pills, Skewering krautrock, post-punk, Canterbury, No Wave, Beefheart, Zappa, dance, vaudeville, folk, blues, bluegrass, Indian and Oriental music and free jazz in one fell swoop, the band is simply untouchable. Even though some parts are an acquired taste and tows the line of both pretensious and annoyance, it never gets too pretensious and the pretensious moments are always fun and are still very energetic. However, the highlights (Show Me Your Heart, Popfest, Hotshot, Beach and Pen) are some of the most catchy, danceable songs I've ever heard.
The most creative band out there today. Easily. NNB forever.
