CD ReviewsSolid black metal album Derek Andrews | United States | 09/13/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is a solid black metal album. It is somewhat reminiscent of old Dissection mixed with Old Man's Child and a bit of Slayer. The recording quality is a tad muddy, but not bad. Imagine shaving off a bit of the clarity of Dissection: Storm of the Light's Bane and that's how the sound quality sounds. The music on this album produces some excellent dark, evil atmosphere. If you are a fan of old Dissection, Slayer, Enslaved, Emperor, Old Man's Child, and perhaps even Dimmu Borgir, it is well worth your money." Third Antichrist Megasin | nowhere | 02/16/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "This album is excellent. The third antichrist continues where Darkside left off. On the first listen you know it's Necrophobic trademark sound. The music is straight in your face, blistering black/death. Very chaotic with fast and slower merciless, melodic parts (killer solos). Each song is of high quality and keeps the atmosphere interesting. The lyrics are as before, straight forward, brutally anti-christian and to the point which I like quite a lot. I'm not sure if there's a story to this album like on the Darkside, but it seems like there's hidden meaning here as well. Well, 3 multiplied by 666 is the year of this album's release. Necrophobic in my opinion are one if not the best black/death metal from Sweden and they're more metal than most black metal bands who heavily rely on image but can't back it up with music. This will not appeal to dimmu burger and old man's child fans as there's no pretty circus keyboards and clowns here. However, I'd recommend it to anyone into Dissection, Deicide, God Dethroned. All hail!" Following the path of Darkside SerpentorX | 07/15/2009 (5 out of 5 stars) "Third Antichrist marked the third release of Necrophobic. Production wise it was better done than Darkside. What I do like about the album is that it is very aggressive, dark, atmospheric and carries the Necrophobic sound all the way to the end. I imagine this guys must be fans of old Slayer as there are lots of thrash elements and the twin guitar duo solos are in the similar shape of Slayer. The music can be compared to Dissection and Sacramentum mixed with old era Slayer. This album is far better that Darkside and something you will be playing for a while. Favorite tracks include The Unhollowed and Frozen Empires. But overall all songs are great..."
