Rolling Basslines

"I remember hearing this really cool jungle track at a party some time ago. It made me feel like i was floating. I later found out that it was "Reaching Out" by Natural Born Chillers. I searched and searched and could never find it, not even on vinyl. When i found this CD, the name of it screamed out at me. I knew that it had to be good...and i was right. Natural Born Chillers have serious talent. The bass never stops booming and the breakbeats never stop rolling. There is an Urban Takeover mix (Aphrodite), and two speed garage remixes by 187 Lockdown. But the best track is at the end of the CD, "Rollin' With the Chillers." If you are a jungle lover, or even just an electronic music lover, you must buy this CD because you need to hear this track. It is so fresh and chilled out, while it is hard and fast at the same time. It is the prototype of atmospheric drum'n'bass. Sometimes I wonder if Natural Born Chillers is actually Aphrodite using a different name. The song formats are almost identical: intro, bass and beats, breakdown, bringin' it all together, then each element tapers off while nearing the end. Think about it."
An eclectic amassing of the evolving jungle/drumnbass sound

"Sampling the vocals of Chuck D from Public Enemy, Natural Born Chillers add a level of rawness that one misses from the early 90's days of jungle (rawness that is altogether vacant from the current evolutionary genre of drum and bass). Although the beat falls into an unsophisticated any-4-year-old-with-a-drum-machine march that chugs along with an ever so perky bass riff, it's that vocal track that brings you back. On paper, "If you really like to rock the funky beat" sounds simplistic, lame, embarrassingly passe even, but Chuck D's almost hoarse rap, processed to become an almost rhythmic element unto itself, would make even the most jaded and well-versed DJ hard pressed to not sing/rap along...Plus with some surprising mixxes that have no family resemblence whatsoever to the original track/"
Aphrodite is not the NATURAL BORN CHILLERS!

"I'm glad to hear that people still listen to and try to track down CHILLERS tunes. Look out for Chillers under the names of A.V, AUDIO VANDAL on NEW BREED RECORDINGS, DUB VANDALZ on white labels and VANDALZ INK on FAT RECORDS. 1 last thing.... All be it on URBAN TAKEOVER that is the only link Aphrodite has to the NATURAL BORN CHILLERS. We made the tune and signed it to his label, you will see that BADASS was released at the same time, ROCK THE FUNKY BEATS outsold this tune of Aphrodite's tenfold plus. We have a new mix of ROCK THE FUNKY BEATS coming this year, so look out for it.... If anyone wants to email the CHILLERS or any of the NEW BREED FAMILY contact us on info@newbreedrecordings"
