"tracks 8-19 are waltzes for solo guitar! Coste's duos for oboe and guitar really are pleasant little pieces but only 40% of the total playing time of this CD is actually music for both instruments.
It's too bad because when the duo plays duo pieces the performances are good and the pieces are nice. This is a Napolean Coste collection more than an album of guitar/oboe music. So if you like French guitar music from the 19th century get this album. The music is light and frothy but in the best possible way. I just hoped there'd be more oboe/guitar duos on this album. Then again, to be fair, Coste has been dead a long time so it's not like we'll see more works from him. There aren't a lot of albums out there with music for oboe and guitar and this one is one you should get if you're looking for oboe/guitar music on CD."
