"If you have read the two reviews below this and are somewhat confused on what they really mean, have no fear, I am here. This is a recording from Napalm Death's tour of Japan way back when in 96. This show just happened to be recorded because ND had heard of the very high quality of their past bootlegged shows, so they decided to use this one. In true grindcore fashion, all of the songs motor ahead at a blinding pace, the drums and bass pounding along and the guitars crunching away. The best part is that there is an audible difference between all of the songs, which means that you can tell the difference between "Antibody" and "Seige of Power". Barney's vocals sound somewhat muffled in the beginning, like he was singing with a sock stuffed in his mouth, but five songs in, he is groaning away at the best ND tunes. The encore is absolutely steller, with a beautiful cover of the Dead Kennedys "Nazi Punks..." An essential purchase."

"This album was recorded on August 5th '96 in Japan. The show includes 24 songs total, with 17 songs `til they say goodbye for the first time, and 7 more when they appear again on stage. Normally the bises part have less songs, but ND has lots of less-than-a-minute-songs, so it's understandable why a show with 24 songs.



The creators of grindcore live, with a great sound, strengthening the old songs that suffer from a bad production. A terrific set list, including songs from all ND's eras.

You have songs from all their albums: 5 from SCUM, 3 from FROM ENSLAVEMENT TO OBLITERATION, 2 from HARMONY CORRUPTION, 1 from both MASS APPEAL MADNESS and UTOPIA BANISHED, 4 from "FEAR, EMPTINESS, DESPAIR" and 8 from DIATRIBES. It's understandable why you have so many songs from "Diatribes". Al that time it was their latest release and this bootlegged was recorded during this album's tour. "Diatribes" is a controversial album, that sees ND leaving their usual grindcore for a more intrincate, industrial and modern songwriting and sound; changing a little bit. But the songs from "Diatribes" fit perfectly in ND's live setlist. Maybe not "Cold Forgiveness", a mid tempo that has nothing special, but perhaps they used it as a break from all the speedy and brutal songs. But it's all about power, chaos and taking it to the edge, to the extremes!



The sound could have been better. But for what the booklet describes, it were some bootleg tapes that finally made it on CD, capturing the true and uncompromising live spirit of ND. So, this show was recorded, but they had no plans in making an official live album out of it. Barney Greenway's vocals are not perfectly clear. Like if he had something stuck in his mouth. But he screams presenting every song, and that's perfectly clear and awesome! The crowd is fantastic, cheering the band and the songs all the show. Barney interacts with the crowd and I found him very warm and thankful. Despite his constant growling, he's a nice, kind and humble guy. =).



It's noticeable how ND stayed true to their roots all over the years, experimenting sometimes, trying new things out, but keeping their true spirit and malevolence. It's nonsense to explain what ND meant and still does to the extreme music world. Innovation, originality and influential from day one are the band's trademarks. You'll see that here.



Play it loud! And you'll find no survivors around the speakers! For those extreme music lovers. For those about to ...Napalm Death, you should own this live album.

"I usually wouldn't give a CD as such a five - star rating, but this live effort by the band that some refer to as the 'Kings Of Grindcore' truly deserve it. 'Bootlegged...' was recorded on August 5,1996 at the Liquid Room in Tokyo,Japan.That was just months after I saw them on their U.S. tour.Think what I liked about this disc so much is the top rate sound quality.At the end of their 24 song /71 minute blistering set,you can hear the crowd thinning out as they exit the venue.Now,THAT'S what I call GOOD bootlegging.When I used to record shows,I would do that.Tunes I was most blown away with were "My Own Worst Enemy","Greed Killing",a mosh pit injured victim's theme song "Cursed To Crawl","Lucid Fairytales" and their Dead Kennedy's cover "Nazi Punks F*** Off".Line-up:Barney Greenway-vocals,Mitch Harris&Jessie Pintado-guitars,Shane Embury-bass and Danny Herrera-drums.Better than their 'BBC Complete',I thought.Should appeal to most fans of Brutal Truth,Bolt Thrower,Unseen Terror,Death and possibly Sepultura.Recommended.A must have for all true fans of grindcore."
