"The albums Nacho Sotomayor has given us are like windows into different parts of the world. From his debut album 'Dies Irae' to 'La Roca 3' or 'La Roca 5', Sotomayor beautifully integrates ethnic and world sounds into a melodic trancelike blend of hypnotic rythms and soothing tones. The music is great for dedicated listening sessions, driving, or just background music. Some tracks are danceable, but this album is more of lounge music rather than club music.



What stands out in La Roca 3 is the rhthtm and beats. The drumming (mostly electric if not acoustic) is very present in the recording, it is IMO the showcase of several songs on this album: Peccatoras Justifica, Eternal, Nostalgia.



La Roca 3 captures the grace of ethnic sounds (tribal, cultural instruments, Indian & Arabian vocal melodies) with melodic synths and trancy rhytms & drum grooves. Sotomayor's music is sophisticated yet simple and has elements of sound that has universal appeal. 5/5"
