CD ReviewsNot the best Mustasch, but not the worst either JP | Macon, GA | 11/26/2008 (4 out of 5 stars) "A friend turned me on to Mustasch and I'm REALLY glad he did because I love this band as much as he does. So I'll qualify the above by saying, while there isn't a bad Mustasch album, there certainly is one that would be ranked last. And this isn't it!
So I'm surprised there are no reviews of this, I think it is a better album than either Powerhouse (which has a 5 star review?) or Ratsafari. Maybe the fact that it only has 6 tracks and is an overpriced import is what is putting some people off. Well, I got it from another retailer for under $10 (sorry Amazon) but, after receiving it, I discovered that it IS the exact same thing as the "other" Parasite, the one Amazon has listed as a single! Same 6 tracks but that listing has used ones for as low as $8. But then again I guess I could have discovered that by simply looking at Mustasch's website!! Oh well, at least I discovered they are coming out with a live DVD!!! Anyway - there's not really a bad song on here but the ones that really jumped out at me are: Nailed to the Pain, Do or Die and the Title track. And this does have a live version of "The Dagger" that is superior to the original version from the album "Above All". So, all told, that's 4 of the 6 tracks, which is saying something in this day and age of 12-15 track albums that really only have 2-3 good songs and the rest are filler or pure crap! Because of the price and the fact that there are only 6 tracks I was tempted to give this 3 stars but in the end I simply couldn't, because what is on it certainly deserves 4. Bottom line - if you are new to Mustasch, get "Latest Version of the Truth" then "Above All" and "True Sound of the New West". If you have them then get a used copy of this, you won't be disappointed. Just don't shell out $25 for it. Of course you could buy the MP3s from the Amazon "single" listing, but then you wouldn't be able to get the live version of "The Dagger"! Which I have always said is the biggest flaw with buying MP3s, you often can't buy the best song on an album simply because it's too long!! The tracks are: 1. Nailed To Pain 2. My Disorder 3. Do Or Die 4. Parasite 5. Kill The Light 6. The Dagger (live) " |
