"Finally they're releasing more Pourcel music on CD. If you like the style of Paul Mauriat, Raymond Lefebvre, Caravelli, Werner Muller _or_ Helmut Zacharias, you have to listen to the guy who began it all."Palmes d'Or" belongs to his more mature style: lush, gorgeous, fully orchestrated music that can be quite complex. No electronic gadgetry used here, it's natural and beautitul. The original recording is from 1983, with some themes added from later. From the original LP, I only miss "Marty" and "La Loi du Seigneur". However, the themes from "The Piano" and "Il Gattopardo" more than make up for what is lacking. And, of course, "Suicide is Painless" (the theme from M*A*S*H) is in the CD, and that alone is worth at least half the price. Now, let's hope the spectacular "Cinéma 1" is released on two CDs :) ."
