A WORLD OF BEAUTY AND HAUNTING MELODIES Maestro Leniado-Chira has written, performed, conducted, and personally chosen for his 5 new CD albums music with an emotional resonance and impact. Romantic and classical, the live-recorded music evokes another world. The listener enters into a world of peace, love, harmony, and tranquility. BIO Joseph Leniado-Chira has been active for over thirty years, conducting 11 professional symphony and chamber orchestras, operas, ballets and brass ensembles. As a professor and guest conductor, he has worked extensively with young musicians. He has also composed over forty works for solo, chamber, instrumental, choral and large orchestral groups which have been performed all over the world by leading musicians. Maestro Leniado-Chira's conducting background is extensive, including appearances with the Joffrey Ballet Orchestra, Hartford Symphony, Miami Philharmonic, the Aspen and Tanglewood Festivals, WNYC American Music Festival, the Chira String and American Chamber Orchestra and other orchestras in Europe. As founder- producer and music director of Symphony on The Sound, he conducted their Presidential yacht, which received national radio and televison coverage. He has produced and conducted on TV and radio as well as directed and administered youth programs. In addition, he was music advisor to Stanley Kubrick on the "2001: A Space Odyssey" film. Mr. Leniado-Chira has been active in the National Association for American Composers and Conductors. As seminar and program director, he instituted a series of seminars by world renowned musicians for the association. He has lectured extensively on conducting and music in Europe and Asia, including a visit to China, where he met with the leading Chinese conductors. Leniado-Chira has received 19 medals in music competition , 5 conducting scholarships and fellowships including a conducting fellowship at the American Symphony Orchestra League's Asilomar Institute Project, the Harvard Dictionary Music Award and the VFW Award in music. He began conducting on radio at 14 and later studied, conducted and taught at the Juilliard School. He also conducted at the University of Miami and performed classical piano for the Yale University benefit concerts, performing many of his compositions. Included among his many appearances was a concert before the late President and Mrs. J F Kennedy. At the Bayreuth Festival, he recorded for the Deutsche Grammaphone Gesellshaft. He is also listed in the International Who's Who in Music and Musicians, and his music is in the collection of Isreal's Feher Jewish Music Center at Beth Hatefutsoth Museum. He is a member of ASCAP and the Bohemian's Club of New York.
