"I bought this cd a number of years ago and loved the music so much I felt I had to get the complete quartets, eventually finding the Fitzwilliam Quartet's complete edition on Decca. Though good, that edition made me realise the beauty of the Moyzes Quartet's account. The selection too of the 2nd and 4th is an excellent one, these being two of the most beautiful penned by Shostakovich. Though Lydian is a bargain label, this is a fine disc with intimate, heart-wrenching playing and for me is the one I go back to again and again. And of course that music!"
