Synopsis

Album Description
Swedish act Moulin Noir has been a flag-waver for the new wave / new romantic sounds initially created by the likes of John Foxx, Ultravox, Visage, and Gary Numan. This newest album takes Moulin Noir's music to a whole new level, blending those lush roots together with a modern edge, creating an album that crosses many tastes and electronic pop boundaries, from new wave, to synthpop, to darkwave, to gothic. It took Moulin Noir almost two years longer than initially anticipated to put together this album, because as the production progressed, the standards were set higher and higher, until a wonderful collection of 16 tracks were perfected.

CD Reviews

Great new romantic synthpop cd from a different drum

"hi all.i have this cd in my player for the umpteenth time now. this reminds me alittle of gary numan. this is what i would have pictured gary numan as doing in his career now. very nice clear vocals with a slight nasal pitch that keep it very interesting. kind of like how gary numan does. moulin noir is in no way trying to copy gary, but rather this is just the feeling i get. i love new romantic synthpop so for me this is a very good cd to own. a little mystery and intrique to the sounds, yet melodic and modern. there are some peircing synths here and there. and there are some electronic orchestra bits too. it is after all (as it says in the cover) a novel. i was okay with moulin noir's other releases. i have them all. but this one is by far my favorite. the "dance of the beauty" is a very nice instrumental to kind of let us relax and enjoy the symphonic sounds. the next track starts with the peircing synths. the production is very good. this whole project was well done. and the disc is over an hour in length.overal i give this cd a 5/5ken"
Expectations were high

"I loved MN's last full album. It played like the best of OMD, John Foxx and the Human League, all updated for the new millenium. It's been a long wait for this album and although I'm always aprehensive about an album with 16 tracks I have to say MN delivered again. Anders Wikholn struck a great balance of melody, moodyness and danceability. It may take one or two listens for everything to sink in but the result is rewarding. Thumbs up!"
I'm a fence sitter on this one...

"This is a CD that I have been debating on whether to keep or get rid of for some time. There are many great songs on here that are catchy and clever, but there are some mediocre ones as well. I love "Killing Me", "Kiss Me Quick" and "Luvrgrl" the most. Moulin Noir obviously has some talent, but a lot of the songs have the same beat and many of the lyrics cheese me out. So to keep or not to keep? I still haven't decided..."
