Motorplant's CD, "Inside the Walnut," produced by Ken Balon, represents a year and a half of hard work packed into a solid hour of music. With 18 tracks, the CD is a compilation of the band's latest works, exploring topics ranging from relationships to environmental pollution. The effort began in 1996, when Canadian producer/engineer Glen Robinson (Tori Amos, Celine Dione and Gwar), heard Motorplant and was impressed with the group's sound. Glen recorded the CD single "Emily/Life Juice" (1996) at The Time Machine, a world-class recording studio in Landgrove, Vermont. After forging a strong relationship with Glen Robinson, Motorplant soon began preproduction on "Inside the Walnut." Glen attended several sound stage preproduction rehearsals, and in October the recording work was moved to Noteworthy Studios, based in Granville, Vermont.
