Synopsis
Album Description MOTHER SUPERIOR are not a new name. For years they have been the backing band of HENRY ROLLINS. Now the LA started again to work on their own songs. The new record however has nothing to do with the previous musical experience except the heavy guitar sound that resembles classic 70's HARD ROCK sound like ZEPPELIN, THIN LIZZY, FREE, LYNYRD SKYNYRD. MOTHER SUPERIOR mix very well melodies and kick-ass approach of ROCK music and offer something for everyone...fans of southern, hard, rhythm and blues, stoner and punk. A cool and genuine band to discover right now! Bad Reputation. 2005. Similar CDs

CD ReviewsThis Is REAL Rock n Roll!! Steven McGuire | Chatsworth, CA United States | 11/27/2001 (5 out of 5 stars) "This is an amazing album by an amazing band. There's not a bad song on here! That's rare in today's music. ALL of Mother Superior's albums are great! Excellent musicians, great lyrics, you name it they got it. I'm amazed when I see their albums at the used record store. I think to myself "Who in their right minds would sell this?" Whoever you are I'm sure you listen to the Gin Blossoms, or the Counting Crows!! Whatever floats your boat man. Buy ALL of their albums. You probably won't find them in the record store, so order them at Amazon. NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The best bunch of musicans on this lame planet today. Mojo Brown | 01/16/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "Mother Superior are the tightest, best, most rocking, only important band to come out in the 90's. They have been playing music for 20 years or more. Their latest self titled album is their best, and the best to come out in a long while. Also check out this band as they tour with Henry Rollins. These boys have the midas touch. Checkout all of their stuff." Mother Superior. . .just CRANK IT!! strutterms | Canoga Park, CA | 02/07/2002 (5 out of 5 stars) "...As a neophyte to MS's self-described "heavy soul" style, I picked up this album and was instantly knocked flat by the wild, exciting guitar work of Jim Wilson, the driving and almost vicous drumming of Jason Mackenroth, and the funky bass stylings of Marcus Blake. There's something for everyone on this album, no matter what your taste. For the hardcore rockers, check out tracks like "Whore" and "Zero's Back in Town." If you like a little easy listening, we've got the lowdown, ZZTop style sound of "Fell For You Like A Child" and the soulful, heartfelt "Follow Me Home." For those of you who gotta have a little blues in your aural diet, "Doghouse" is the only word I have for you. And of course, for the rebel in all of us we have the anthem protesting the sorry state of the airwaves, "Radio Sucks," and the Thin Lizzy-esque "Such a Worthless thing."
With hard rock legend Henry Rollins producing, this record is given the glossy, professional sound it deserves, and yet still manages to stay true to the exciting "live" sound that can be found on all of the band's previous releases. In short, MOTHER SUPERIOR is a must for everyone who wants to rock. For all those who believed that gutsy, adrenalized rock was dead, I have only two words for you: MOTHER SUPERIOR." |
