"A neglected funk/rock classic 'Mothers Finest' celebrates an underated yet seminal US rock band. The first multi-racial rock/soul band from the Deep South their music sounds fresh and vital. With two superb lead vocalists in Joyce 'Baby Jean'Kennedy and Glen Murdoch the pairing resembles Ike and Tina Turner fronting a red hot 70s rock/soul band. This is hot stuff from 'Fire' to 'Give you all the love (inside of me)' it just kills. Rock solid rhythms, searing guitar work and first class vocals its all here. It still sounds great. Check it out."

"Mother's Finest Epic album was released on the Sony label on CD in Europe, and this is the first bonafide reissue of that classic 1976 album on CD. By the time the band went into the studio, they had practiced these songs for a long time. They knew how to play, sing & improvise all in one fell swoop. Every song on here will take your breath away. The energy level this band had were beyond frenzied. Wow - Joyce Kennedy could sing with such power and force. And with the hard rockin' band behind her, it just propelled the music to a feverish pace. The combination of powerhouse vocals , pure musicianship, and great songs are all here. FIRE combines rock, funk and R&B , and is a perfect example of the melting pot of influences that MF brought together. GIVE YOU ALL THE LOVE I HAVE [ INSIDE OF ME ] is an eight minute opus of a jam, with stops and starts, and solos, and Joyce [ Baby Jean ] wailing away. It's their " Stairway To Heaven ". RAIN is also a killer song with Glenn Murdock on lead. Joyce and he were dual lead singers . Joyce made the band what it was, and Glenn's leads on here are the best songs he ever cooked up with MF. NIGGAZZ CAN'T SING ROCK & ROLL is also one of his, another blending of rock & Sly & The Family Stone influences. Interestingly, a few of the songs on this album were reworked from their earlier album on RCA in 1972. GIVE YOU ALL THE LOVE and NIGAZZ.. had their origins on songs from that RCA album, which didn't capture the band as they are known for. This Epic release captures them at full throttle. The energy that Mother's Finest had are all over this highly toxic CD of hard rock and soul."
