"i have heard quite a few interpretations of the motets, and this one is my favorite. it is a a slightly different interpretation from the norm in that the motets are sung by a relatively large choir and some of the pieces at a slightly slower tempo. this only results in a magical, warm sound with a good reverb for effect. the sound is well balanced, with the orchestra providing a good foundation, but never overpowering the choir. it is a very powerful total sound that will give you chills. you better grab it if it is available as this cd is out of print and now very rare."

"This recording of the motets is so exciting and exhilerating that it is such a shame that it is now out of print. If you can get your hands on it, grab it! You won't be disappointed. It combines the "best of both worlds," so to speak when it comes to the subject of authentic performance practices. It had been common practice in past years to perform Bach's motets in the accapella tradition rather that with instrumentation, as is done here. But unlike so many "period" performances these performances do not lack excitment or color. The famous Westminster College Choir sings with a lovely full bodied sound and lots of energy. In my opinion this is the best recording of the motets."
