"I have followed Mortification for more than ten years now, and their testimony IS without reproach; they are consistent in their commitment to Jesus Christ, and in their preservation of what they call "Modern Metal Extremes." Every artist writes from the fire of their own experience, and Steve Rowe has a genuine fire for God, and a deep passion for extreme grindcore deathmetal! He does not apologize for EITHER! This music and message is MOVING and POWERFUL! Mortification produces top-notch extreme hardcore death metal with a message that is meaningful to an intelligent listener! THIS MUSIC IS LOUD, HARD, FAST--THE EPITOME OF EXTREME METAL AND GRINDCORE! If you like music in the style of Cannibal Corpse, Obituary, Fear Factory; and you are sick of the constant negative messages--MORTIFICATION is for you! These guys have been tested by time and tried by the fire of true experiences--I know their story personally. You can reach the band at: or me at Any Mortification CD will be honest, timely, and just plain GREAT DEATH METAL--with a positive message of NEW LIFE from DEATH! My praise could not be higher for these guys! The previous Mortification albums are even harder grindcore than this one (Mortification, Scrolls of the Megilloth, Blood World, Envision Evangeline, Post Momentary Affliction, Primitive Rhythm Machine)--Actually, they are all terrific albums! Other groups with this (or similar) message/music combo include: Circle of Dust, Argyle Park, Metanoia, Living Sacrifice, Klank, Horde, Vengeance Rising, Tourniquet, Mortal, Fell Venus,Paramaecium, Corpse, Frank's Enemy, Covenant, Amnos, Slamcat, Crimson Thorn,Zao, Antitethesis, Faithbomb, Soverign, Dead Pharisees, Deliverance, and a host of others . . . Mosh it up! Steve-O! :):) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)"

"To those of you who, like me, grew up with Vengeance Rising, Deliverance, Anthrax and Megadeth, this is plain-old feel good music. It loses some of it's musical value due to it's fading genre, but "Hammer of God" seems not to care, and that's what makes it good. These guys just rock. And it's rare to see a band that isn't trying to be the next KoRn or Nirvana survive for as long as Mortification has. Much of the length of their success is due to being on in the Christian market, which has loyal fans which stick with good music from the past over the recycled fluff the industry offers now. The lyrics on "Hammer of God" are typical Mortification. Some would say Steve Rowe doesn't compromise lyrically, but I think he compromises some creative opportunity just to get his point across. Of course, Mortification is just a straight-ahead driving metal band, so why should the lyrics be any less?"

"This album introduced me into the wonderful world of hardcore Christian rock. With compelling (yet truthful) lyrics and an awesome blend of percussion, electric guitars, and a load of talent, the band that has rocked so hard for almost a decade proves that they've still got it. If hardcore Christian rock is your preference, then you'll love the screaming, blazing, Mortifying experience of "Hammer of God.""

"This album is truly the highlight of all the Mortification stuff I've heard and got. This shows a more united band, with them finally having a consistent lineup. It has more involvement of everyone in the band, as opposed to being Steve, with a couple of guys providing the music. I didnt think that anything could top Primative Rhythm Machine, but I was proven wrong by this album. I bought Hammer of God right after I saw them live. Was a great experience, I truly recomend this album. It shows that Mortification can match it up with any of the 'great' metal bands of our time."

"This is a very cool heavy metal album. It's metal, pure and simple, complete with a growling lead vocal and pounding riffs and drums. Vocalist/bassist Steve Rowe writes passionate lyrics about martyrdom, war with Satan, angelic visions, and the simple fact that God rules. Combine that with hard-driving music that takes control of your head and neck muscles and moves them along to the beat, and you've got a great listen. These guys make no bones about their faith and when the great war with Hell kicks off I'm sure they'll be right there up front. I'd recommend this CD to any fan of heavenly metal or metal in general."
