A fair live album.

"If you're looking for new material, don't buy this one. One new song is featured, but most are from recent albums. If you're an old fan, this probably won't impress you very much. The production is pretty fair. It's better than I thought it would be. For a great live Mortification album, check out Live Planetarium. Few come close. All in all 10 Years Live, Not Dead is good. Unless you collect Mort merch, you can pass. El Kabong gives it four head-bangs!"
A great sound for a live album!

"There isn't much new on this album (just "Dead Man Walking"), but the sound is incredible! The "Hammer of God" release didn't have the powerful sound that I look forward to in a Mortification release, but the songs from it make the transition to the stage very well. I, personaly, think that they sound BETTER than the studio recordings. "Dead Man Walking" is a good song, and in the CD booklet, there is a drawing to acompany it done by Troy. The songs are great, and the quality of the album makes it worth buying. I love it!"

""10 Years Live Not Dead" is a nice overview of Mortification's career, so far. Fans of the older death metal Mortification may be disappointed because the majority of the songs come from later Mortification releases. The bulk of the songs are from the last four albums. However there is a least one song from each Mortifcation album. I have always been a big fan of live albums, when they are done well. When I listen to a live album I do not want to hear extensive studio overdubs that cover up imperfections. With a live album I want to feel like I am there, in the crowd enjoying the band live and raw. That said, this is a very good live album that showcases a very strong three piece band declaring God's Truth through music. As always the music is heavy and it is quite good. Between songs Steve Rowe, the band's leader, addresses the audience and tells a few interesting stories as well. Many of the songs sound better than the studio versions. This is especially true of the tracks from "Envision EnAngeline" and "Triumph of Mercy". I would have liked to have heard more tracks from "Triumph" and "Hammer of God", however I have no compliants about the songs that do appear here. My only real complaint is that there are not more songs. That's only because I wanted to hear more. There is also one new track included called "Dead Man Walking". The song is quite good, I only wish that it appeared on the new Mortification release "The Silver Cord Is Severed". Fans of the band should not be disappointed by this release. For those who have not heard Mortification, or any other Christian metal band, and are curious then this may be a good place to start. Now if only Tourniquet would release a live album."
