"Morgion are a band that create such an impenetrable atmosphere of dark, surreal beauty, it can take the listener into a world of the 12th or 13th centuries. This Relapse recording is done very well. It contains all the work of Morgion's first 2 album propers and some demo traks as well. All of it is remastered. Among Majestic Ruins is their first record(included)and Solinari their second record. You can hear the musical growth between records. For me, Solinari is the better of the 2, and is also one of my favorite albums by any band in the death/doom genre. The lyrics are compelling also. If you dig death/doom you can't go wrong in picking this Relapse package up. Their next and last album Cloaked in Ages, Crowned in Earth is also a brilliant album. With this, Morgion use a "softer" approach. Acoustic guitars are more prevalent throughout, and the use of "clean" vox is applied more than the low and gutteral voice is. I wish this band had not ended. But their legacy is these 3 records. Highly recommended. Can't beleive there is only this review for Morgion compilation on here. Criminally underrated band."
