Two very different lp's on one CD

"The first lp on this Collectables 2-for-1 is overproduced and erratic. Bernard Purdie on drums, all star band, occasionally silly background vocals...typical for the period, but done better than most. Great version of Eddie Harris's "Listen Here". The second lp is more traditional. "Virtue"is a highpoint. More focus on Mongo's drumming. This one gets better as you listen to it. Don't let a few of the ridiculous throwaway tracks "The Letter?" deter you from hearing some of the gems."
