CD Reviews

What's wrong with simple songs?
Alicia Trees | Philadelphia, PA USA | 10/20/2001
(4 out of 5 stars)

"If I was in a rush and had to pick 5 CDS out of my entire collection to take with me down into a bomb shelter (with lots of AA batteries and my CD walkman) this would be one of the easy picks."Push the Button" is one of those CDs that takes a few plays to get into. Think remote control channel changer: this album is eclectic. Some soulful tunes. A singing monkey. Some drum and bass. A splice of tabla music. Bossa nova. A definite Beatles spin on some of the songs. In fact, the whole album's concept seems to be a throwback to when simple songs about this and that were all the rage (think 60s British pop bands in general). If you have no fondness for this era and are a hardcore Beasties fan (or are strictly into heavy drum and bass), you're probably not going to want to put your money down for "Push the Button." I think the main reason this album is so underrated is that it hasn't found it's audience, which might be among fans of Manu Chao, Cake, Matthew Sweet, Soul Coughing or the like."
Okay Mark

"This is the album where Mark tries to gove the public and execs everything plus the kitchen sink. He delivers on all promises. Jazz, funk, punk, pop, lounge. It is all here. Forget the Beastie Boys give me Money Mark anyday!"
Yo...this cd is the money
