"Even when she was recording prolificly during the 20's blues craze, she was still very obscure, although always a wonderful blues singer able to sing a blues on the same level as Bessie Smith, and able to sing a swing song even better. Moore was more then just a blues shouter she could easily make the transition from blues shouter to jazz singer, as she often did(she sang with Charlie Johnson & His Original Paradise Ten in Chicago's Paradise Cafe in the late 20's). She was often backed by Louis Armstrong, Sidney bachet, Jabbo Smith, exe... and every other top jazz muscican of the era. This CD on the Document label is the 2nd in a series that is reissuing all of the talented Monette Moore's recordings. This wonderful CD covers everything she ever did as a leader(excluding the woderful sides she did with Charlie Johnson's Paradise Orchestra) from 1924-1932. Moore remained active until her death, and she made a comeback in the 60's, singing with Disneyland's New Orleans band at Carnation Plaza in Disneyland. This valuable CD is highly recomended, especially to classic jazz collectors, both volumes are great."
