"MONDO TOPLESS strips rock & roll down to its absolute basics, but does so without forgetting it's MUSIC they're making! GET READY FOR ACTION was the long-awaited follow-up to FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLAR HAND JOB, and while I prefer their debut CD over this one, there's some great highlights here. Starting with Amazon Queen, my #1 favorite MT song, which has one of the most incredible, driving, non-stop drum beats I've heard in ages. If only the recording could capture POWER of when they play it LIVE! I also like Get Ready For Action, Sick Of It All, and Goodbye (an eerie, dynamic piece that, again, is even more amazing at one of their shows). And then there's Shake-- the old Shadows Of Knight number, also done by The Friggs. Between the repeated SHOUTS and Sam Steinig's hypnotic Hammond organ, how could ANYONE resist this? The simplicity and rawness of MT took awhile to grow on me-- but it DID-- and I feel they really deserve greater exposure."
