Quality 60s Chicago soul, spanning the whole of the 60s.Ten of her singles A and B-sides have never been on CD before, a further four have only ever been on Kent compilations.The only CD reissues on Mitty to date has been a now deleted reissue of her Chess album Shades Of A Genius with a few randomly selected bonus cuts - including the 'wrong' version of her biggest hit, I Had A Talk With My Man.

"These are most of the legendary 60's Chess recordings of Mitty Collier. Everybody is familiar with the song,"I had A Talk With My Man Last Night", a gospel song reborn with secular lyrics. Well, here are the rest of the songs Mitty recorded complete with musical arrangements by Riley C. Hampton (who arranged "At Last" for Etta James). The distinct piano playing of Leonard Caston is outstanding here and the performances themselves have been well preserved after all these years and are re-issued in glorious STEREO. This is some of the greatest music that Chess Records ever produced in Chicago and Mitty Collier is one of the most under rated singers in R&B history. Wow, what a show!"

"I love this woman,she has a voice that I haven't heard equaled or duplicated by anyone else. I am fortunate enough to have one of the original copies of "Shades Of A Genius" in pristine condition. When I finally found a copy from "Randies Records" back in the 80's, I was thrilled to death. I had a copy back in 1970 that was pretty much destroyed when my apartment burned. When I received my copy from Randies Records I immediately copied the album to cassette and haven't played the actual album since. This album is a master piece due to the range of Ms. Colliers' voice, presentation and deliverance of the songs.

Fortunately, I was able to meet Ms. Collier during the time when "I Had A Talk With My Man Last Night" was at the top of the charts in Birmingham, Alabama where she and I was born. There was a club by the name of La Dora's Inn on 8th Avenue North across from the discount store of our era, Atlantic Mill's. She was delightful to meet and was very gracious to her fans, I only wish that I had gotten her autograph at that time. If you don't have Shades Of: The Chess Singles 1961-1968, by all means do by it. She's now a Pastor of a Chicago Church and making Gospel albums now. "Mitty Lean Collier" will go down in the annals of history as "One Of A Kind"!"
