One previously unreleased track is an early version of 'Burning Bridges' that was recorded alongside the first single, 'Serpent's Kiss', but was never released). Although issued after God's Own Medicine, First Chapter collects together the singles released before that album came out. The two independently released 12"s 'Serpent?s Kiss' and 'Garden Of Delight/Like A Hurricane' were both No.1 hits on the UK Independent Chart and were the catalyst for Phonogram to snap up the band. The first single, 'Garden Of Delight', was released in May 1986 and was quickly followed by 'Garden Of Delight,' double a-sided with Like A Hurricane, the band's cover of the Neil Young classic..
