Synopsis

Product Description
Her fourth solo album strikes a bold path across a landscape of dynamic and varied melody forms and holds many surprises within its undulating reverie. "(a) spera" is Latin for hopes and difficulties linked inseparably, as we all are. This brave trek through a fragile ancient forest unfolds, revealing the destruction wrought by cruel conquest, recalls the relics of a love never realized, and decries the loss of ancient wisdom. Kalimba, hurdy gurdy, bongos, horns...instruments for all worlds, all times. Featured musicians include Chris Funk (The Decemberists), Tara Jane O'Neill, and Lori Goldston.

CD Reviews

Another Great Album
YellowBeetleWA | WA state | 03/05/2010
(5 out of 5 stars)

"Only a few tracks really caught my attention at fist, but after giving it a good listen, I realized all the tracks are GREAT. This album has a different tone than her previous releases. It is more mellow, deep, and incorporates other instruments. It's really good! Highlights for me are: "Generostity", "Education", "Shells", "The World is Falling", and "Bones & Skin". I love all her albums (my least fav. is Joyride) and they all have a place. If I'm driving or want to bounce around a bit, put some skip in my step, I listen to the album "You think it's like this...". But if I'm studying and need some mellow tracks in the background or want to just sit in the damp under a tree and breathe, this is the album I'll pop in.
