"I first heard this quite a while ago by downloading it - well before I even knew Warp would release it as a part of their too-well-packaged Peel Sessions series. This is the material that drew me to pick up `One on One,' and though that's a great album, I like this stuff quite a bit more. Another of Warp's finest, Mira Calix creates haunting, minimal tapestries of some of the most jagged and strange sounds I've heard. As an additional oddity, there are vocals all over this, which is pretty interesting, making for a cold, detached twist on pop music that sounds like, oh I dunno, the Waitresses vs. Vangelis (sorry, that didn't make any sense, you just have to hear it). More impressive, while detached and minimal, the songs always sound very organic and analog. `One on One' is also excellent, and `Pin Skeeling' has a FANTASTIC Boards of Canada remix, with which I shared many a midnight walk home, and without which your electronic music collection may possibly never be complete...."
