"What a Beautiful album.
If Dvorak were living today, he might be The Beatles. So Rich, charming and harmonious is his melodic invention.
These are some of the most Gorgeous melodies and arrangements in the canon. Especially Cypresses and the 2 Waltzes.
They have literally brought a tear (of joy) to my eye, They are so moving.
The Panocha Quartet (Czech) plays these with penultimate warmth, tone, intonation, zest, emotion, expressiveness and genuine czech swagger.
The recording quality is one of the best I have heard from Supraphon.
Past experience with this labels' earlier than 1987 recordings brought a "thin" sound to my ears.
Not this one...Its clean, crystal clear and very rich with depth of sound and an oh so smooth bottom. One of Supraphon's best.
This is a 1999 DDD CD that was recorded from 1992 to 1997.
The compositions are:....
Miniatures for 2 Violins and viola OP.75a...
Two Waltzes for 2 Violins, Viola, Cello and double bass OP.54.....
Bagatelles for 2 violins, cello and harmonium OP.47....
Quartet Movement in F major (string quartet).....
Cypresses (string quartet).....
Nocturne in B major...2 violins, viola, cello & double bass.....
63 minutes of not a care in the world music....
Highly recommended....
ENJOY!!!"
