"I can't believe how lucky I am to have stumbled upon this CD by accident. Mike "Sport" Murphy makes you laugh, makes you cry, makes you think, makes you feel. Don't miss out on this, it's a very rare treat."

"mike "sport" murphy is one of the best songwriters i have ever encountered. a combination of the lyrical deftness and solid melodies of lou reed, tom waits, neil young, & kurt cobain are present, yet this record sounds like none of the above. it's hearing sport himself sing and imprint these songs with his own vivid style that make this album something special. sport doesn't seem to be interested in catering to the lowest common denominator with his music, which is a refreshing change. i thought it was incredible, although it definitely won't appeal to the masses, as proven by the fact that ricky martin has the #1 song in america."
Our little (big) secret

"Willoughy made its rounds via word of mouth, tapes made during parties (thanks, Sport! and thanks, Bill, for the copy you made me that I totally forgot about!), a few live performances, over the past couple of years. It was our little secret--we, the lucky ones who had enjoyed and cherished this music before it was released for the entire world to enjoy. In a world where too many songs sound suspiciously alike, this CD is an anomaly. A little Tom Waits, a splash of Van Dyke Parks, a smidgen of Brian Wilson, a whole bunch of Charles Ives, Neil Innes, hell, even Tony DeFranco and the DeFranco Family (I kid!)...throw it all together and you get a CD that is touchingly brilliant, sad and ecstatic at the same time, a true gem--our little (big) secret.Turn off the radio, throw this on your CD player, and explore Sport's world. You'll be glad you did."
Still brilliant after all these years

"We just played this album for our friends who love to find gems, and who appreciate great songwriting and thoughtful production.
They were jazzed. Of all the many, many CDs we have in our home, we picked this one.
It still evokes a span of rich emotions for me. This album will last and last, it is timeless. Thank you Sport!"
