CD Reviews
A Great Collection

"Most Americans are probably unfamiliar with this group. They are a Scottish band who did not find fame until they relocated to Italy, where the majority of their hits were recorded. Although their version of Lally Stott's "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" was an international smash, it was Mac & Katie Kissoon's version of this song that made the U.S. charts. Middle of the Road's version did receive some U.S. airplay, as did Soley Soley (my personal favorite!). I was a big fan of this group in 1971 - 1972 as I used to listen to alot of shortwave broadcasts from European countries. This CD sounds great, and although I already have all but 5 tracks on vinyl, it is great to have all of these songs in one place (and the CD sounds alot better than the records do). This is a must for anybody who remembers this group and for anyone who loves the pop music of the early 70's."
NOT THE BEST !

"I have seen ten different compilations of this band and here the track selection is not the best. There are some better comps."
Great CD

"It was so refreshing to hear these long lost tracks on CD. My first introduction to Middle of the Road came in 1971 when their hit, "Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" became a number 1 record on a couple of radio stations here in Hawaii. Always liked that song and have 2 45s of it... now on CD, the song is better than ever.Several outstanding tracks on the CD are pulled from Middle of the Road's "Acceleration" LP, which I found in a used record store several years ago. Among the standout tracks getting the digital treatment here are "Sacremento," "Samson & Delilah," "Queen Bee," the majestic "On This Land" (it sounds really great on CD) and "Soley Soley," which was the group's only other hit in Hawaii. In addition to the tracks I already knew and loved, this CD introduced me to songs like "Kailakee Kailakoo" and "Everybody Loves a Winner"..... I also loved their cover version of Christie's "Yellow River."Overall this is a good compilation and serves as a good introduction to a group that should have and could have been great here in the United States."
Nostalgia of the 70s!

"It was a huge success in Europe, where I was living, and many of their songs were sang by French singers. It's simple, easy and nice to hear. It's refreshing and for the people who were around twenty years old, it's nostalgia of the beautiful years."
