Best Jazz Album You've Never Heard Of

"Bought the vinyl in '79 and wore it out. Was delighted to find it on CD. This album features a Gil Evans-like big band backing a trio of giants-- Jon Faddis, Phil Woods and Gerry Mulligan. I'm a fan of all three and have never heard any of them play better. Jon Faddis rains double C's, Woods rips hot line after hot line, and Mulligan is incredibly lyrical. All arrangements are original and interesting giving the soloists unlimited opportunity to wail. If you're a true jazz fan, you can't miss with this little known gem."
