Outside of Michael W. Smith's masterpiece, Live the Life, only 1990's Go West Young Man has brought him his deserved commercial success. "Place in This World" was one of the year's top recordings and reached No. 5 on the p... more »op charts, yielding Smitty's first crossover hit. More importantly, it was one of the few contemporary Christian music songs to reach such heights in the secular market. Smitty shows signs of diversity with the gospel-tinged "How Long Will Be Too Long" and the beautiful balladry in "Cross My Heart." "Seed to Sow" showcases an anthemic hook that's hard to ignore. Throughout the release, Smith enhances his signature keyboard sound with horns, choral groups, and hot guitar licks. Once again, he sets the standard for others to follow. --Michael Lyttle« less

I love this CD! But I always have! Anything I had on cassette growing up is a favorite of mine! I don't think I ever realized that it seems to be Christian music until listening to it again as an adult! Even better!

One of MWS's best crossover albums, good variety of styles. Original version of Agnus Dei (covered by Third Day later)

"First of all, this album is obviously an early 90s album, that however doesn't make it bad, just remember where music was coming out of the 80s with a love of all things synthesized, and enjoy the album for what it is. And what it is, is an amazing group of great pop tunes, some of these songs are my favorites by michael, "for you" unbelievable and so much fun, a great album you won't be dissapointed"

"I grew up wit hthis album. As a child I remember listing to it on a tape deck.
Go west Youngman just speaks to me,
While Love crusade makes me get up and praise/dance.
And the haunting melody of children singing to God. Agnus Dei always sends shiviers dow nmy spine. This album is soo good. Hey, im listening to it right now!"
A great record, even for a non-christian.

"I must admit, I was a bit skeptical about Michael Smith when I first heard of him. I'm not really into "God-Rock", but this artist doesn't get weighed down by any titles. "Place in This World" is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard."For You" isn't far behind... All I can say, is give it a try...you just might get blown away!"
