CD Reviews

This is the definitive Michael Stearns collection

"If you have never purchased anything from Michael Stearns buy this album first. This is the tell-tale of all of his albums. In my opinion he is the modern day Mozart of ambient music. His music can provoke strong emotions when listened to. There are many perfect compositions on this album to relax and meditate to. If you are a fan of classical music or other new age artists (i.e. Vangelis, David Arkenstone, Yanni etc.) buy this album. Some of the best ambient music in the world has been written buy Mr. Stearns. Many have recognized his compositons in IMAX theaters. This collection contains such work."
Beautiful film and space music

"Michael Stearn's compilation of IMAX film scores and other pieces is a harmonious masterpiece that has so much to offer. His music is rich in ambient themes that are both haunting and powerful. He starts his cd with a track that sounds as if it could have been a part of the film 2001; he uses a chanting choir which eventually extends into a powerful theme. His Baraka theme is equally impressive, as is his Paha Sapa theme. My personal favorites, however, lie at the end of the cd, where he has included three beautiful songs from the film CHRONOS. The CHRONOS soundtrack has been long sought after, for it is out of print. The Chronos main theme is simply beauty itself. I reccomend this cd for anyone who is into beautiful ambient space/film music."
Better than my other Stearns' stuff...

"I'm very pleased with this CD. I have a number of Stearns' other projects (Thematic, Textural and Lost World) and this is by far the best. The organ selections are deeply moving and all of the cuts (except #3) touch my soul. #3 has some tribal chanting which doesn't particularly appeal to me but the instrumentals (natural and electronic) on all of the other pieces are very well done and consistent with the "sacred" theme running throughout.I would describe this album as a "lite" dark ambient with a touch of deep space."
