CD ReviewsPrevious reviewer needs to open his mind about this record mariojazzfusion | 11/27/2004 (5 out of 5 stars) "this record is not a guitar shredder album, landau is not an all out shredder so the man who wrote that review I respect your opinion but you must not have listened to live 2000, or tales from the bulge by mike, or karizma, david garfield records, greg mathieson at the baked potato 2000, steve taviglione blue tav, brandon fields other places, just to name some where mike stretches out, I think before saying luke is better than him, which I cannot stand comparing guitarists anyway, listen to more of mikes work instead of making such unfair criticisms, that are wrong, michael's influences are brought out in his music like jimi hendrix, my is a soulful melodic player as well as a technical monster, trust me I listen to probably more music than you have in your life, I have no ego just stating an opinion, plus luke and mike are best friends they have known each other since age 12, luke constantly states in interviews how mike is one of his favorite players in the world, they gig together at tributes for carlos vega, and jeff porcaro, and jam at least once a year at the baked potato, comparing these guys are a joke they are both world class players, mikes many different tones are killer, and he would not be the top studio player in the world if he was as bad as you say he is if you want shredders go listen to a different artist like brett garsed, or chris poland, but this record is beautiful and shows many different influences, and styles mike plays, with nice layered guitar, plus its nice to hear mike sing, it fits his music no one said he needed to sound like luther vandross, or peter cetera, this is a great solo record that demonstrates the less is more approach, the rythem playing is great plus excellent musicians like abe laboriel jr, jeff young, tom keane, toss panos, ted landau, jimmey johnson and others, buy this record at audiophile imports.com this japanese version has no bonus tracks, plus the domestic version at audiophile only costs 14.99, if you want good emotion filled, tasty, music check this out, if you have a closed mind open it have a nice day"
