Synopsis

Album Description
Leavin' Town is the debut album from Flamekeeper - the new band founded by five-time IBMA Fiddle Player of the Year Michael Cleveland and featuring John Mark Batchelor on banjo, mandolinist Jesse Brock (Lynn Morris Band), guitarist and vocalist Todd Rakestraw (Union Station, Timberline Drive), and bassist and vocalist Marshall Wilborn (Lynn Morris Band, Johnson Mountain Boys, Longview). With Flamekeeper, Cleveland has found a band equal to his relentless drive and inventiveness, and together they create music that is at once a tribute to classic bluegrass and a brilliant extension of it. The jaw-dropping intensity of their live performances have already made them a favorite on the bluegrass circuit, and Leavin' Town is filled with hard driving instrumental and vocal music that fans the sparks first struck by bluegrass's first generation into a bold new flame.

"Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper tear it up on this CD! Just listen to a few of the samples here at amazon; you'll be hooked! Highlights: "Jerusalem Ridge" (better than I've ever heard it, with a touch of newgrass virtuosity), "My Blue Eyed Darling" (toe-tapping festival material for sure), "Leavin' Town" (MASH it!).

The best description I can think of for this CD is that when you turn on the music, you'll feel like you just stepped into one of the best bluegrass festivals in the country and you don't want to 'leave town' anytime soon!"
