The bulk of this CD is the 40-minute episodic "Covert Choreography," a dynamic work that features a quintet comprised of the impressive bassist Michael Bisio, trumpeter Rob Blakeslee, violinist Eyvind Kang, pianist Bob Nell, and drummer Ed Pias. Also on this CD are more concise works teaming Bisio individually with Kang, Nell, and Blakeslee. The music is adventurous but not forbidding and, although there are no memorable melodies or startling innovations, the music is stimulating and keeps one guessing. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
