"I bought this CD years ago, when it first came out, with the other cover (just Merle's characterful face, staring out of a full-face portrait). It was the first of his I'd bought, and it has become one of my all-time favorite recordings.

No need to cover the ground that everyone else here has, suffice it to say that it bleeds genuine feeling, excellent songwriting and song selection, spare but perfect instrumentation and those ever-so-excellent vocals. Quirky, too. Who'd have thought Merle would pen an ode to safe sex, in western swing style (Bareback)?

You should buy this CD."
